I live in Indiana. We have 6 acres, 3 that is wooded. Lots of limestone here. I have brought lots up to go around my gardens, but I'm sure they have been sprayed with weed killer. But, if I would go get a couple of rocks from the woods and wash them in RO water, could I put a couple in my sump to increase my KH? It seems to be low at 7 and I thought it would be a natural way to raise it.

I would check your calcium and magnesium levels as well . You could go buy some argonite as well but I’m just giving a good guess not knowing your tanks details .
I don’t think I would risk it if using weed killer. I am a landscape contractor by trade and some of the chemicals in weed killer has a long lifespan and can Leach into ock you have is porous and can absorb the ingredients. I think I would just go and spend a few dollars at LFS store I’m changing salt blend or dosing regiment on in getting Kh up If you have coral depleting your alk .

Thanks, but no weed killer in the wooded area.

My calcium is a little high at 500 and magnesium is fine.

I am assuming you have coral in your tank? Or coralline algae? Your tank will consume alk much quicker than your calcium. I would recommend dosing 2 part in your tank to bring your levels back in the normal range . I started hand dosing after my alk levels were always low when I had enough coralline coral in tank . I bought a doser 6 months later after I had bought several more lps and sps coral. I hope this helps !

Limestone wont raise dkh until the ph drops below 7.4 which doesnt happen in our tanks. Raise dkh with sodium bicarbonate
