Hey guys,

For those of you who followed my previous nano-cube set up you all know that the cube was getting extremely crowded and that an upgrade was on its way. At first it was the NC28, but I finally found a Solana when a member on this forum tipped me on one local to me.

So now it's time to say goodbye to the NC12, it's been a good 7 years.

Hello Solana 25, Den 2.0.

Current setup September 5th, 2012 -

Aquarium Purchase Date: August 26, 2012

Equipment:

  • Solana 25
  • Kessil 350 Spotlight w/ Gooseneck
  • Purigen + w/ Blue Life Clear Fx Pro
  • MP10
  • FHI Premium Rock
  • Eheim Jager 125w Heater
  • inTank Solana Filter Holder
Kessil 350 Narrow:

Here she is with the scape (I was too anxious to move the sand and rocks from the NC28 over)

Here she is wet:

I wanted to go with a two island approach like my last tank, but the live rock I chose wouldn't allow for that scape to work. I put two pieces together out of frustration and suddenly had an idea/inspiration. After a bit I ended up with this scape, which I like a lot!

Thread is a bit boring without livestock pics...

So here's pics from the NC12 I took today that will eventually be all moved to this tank.

So here's how I plan on gluing the frags down.

Emptying out the water:

Some BSI gel and the frag to be glued (In this picture, an Utter Chaos paly):

Poseidon and Captain Jack Sparrow (aka Peanut) have officially been relocated to the new Solana along with the GBTA. I'm thinking the GBTA is only temporary as a home while they settle in their new home until I find a Sunburst Anemone.

On a side note, I don't know what happened to Tigger, my Tiger Blenny. He just disappeared in the NC12 along with my yasha gobies. I'm beginning to suspect that Saphira, the Golden Dwarf Moray Eel, is growing and had some very expensive dinners. I'm hesitant to add her into this tank now.

I'll be on the look out for another Tiger Blenny. I just love them. Should have swiped up the pair that Pacific Island Aquatics had... Argh...

So far 2 Sunset Rhodactus' and a Blue Rim Nuclear makes the island. Hopefully a jawbreaker in the future when I can find one at a good price.

Thanks wysiwyg!

Looks awesome! Beautiful clowns!
Thanks revh, I'm always amazed at how you're almost in every thread. LOL. They're Doni clowns, one is almost 3 years old but is still the size of a baby!

Nice setup.

I can't wait for the future progress of this tank.
Thanks Wes! Let's make the Bay Area proud!

Very nice... Keep the pics coming!
Hey slugwall, I'll be sure to post pictures as I like thread with pics too.

Thanks revsgirl! You're also in almost every thread... I don't know how you two do it!

Well that didn't work out too well. Look at that fatty in the new big tank...

On Sunday my friend and I went on a fish-store day. We swung by two LFS' and by the day we ended up with about 11 bags of corals. All were amazing prices, and all were cherries! A great day, a great day...

Here are some more livestock photos, some of which are the new additions:

Lilac Acan:
LilacAcan.jpg

Red Discosoma with black streaks developing (Bottom right). It may be a red shroom... But it's my favorite one because it was so extremely bright at the LFS, it even shunned a Jawbreaker in the same tank! My one cheap coral because it makes me so happy:
redinfernoshroom.jpg

Looks pretty much like Aquatic Obsession's:

Indo-Gold Torch w/ Pink Tips:
PinkIndoGoldTorch.jpg

Radiant Tangerines:

Mordacious/SC Dangerous Shrooms:

Unknown Micromussa:

Darth Maul Micromussa:
darthmaulmicromussa-1.jpg

Dragon Ball Z:

Miami Hurricane Chalice... eating mysis shrimp? Who knew?
ChaliceMysis.jpg

Been looking for these for a long time... Armegeddon Paly:
Armegeddon.jpg

It's finding hidden gems at the LFS' that make me love this hobby so much more. It's the effort and the fun of being physically there in a place full of goodies rather than seeing online photos and adding pieces of coral to a basket. The joy of being there in person vs online is just not the same, and the relationship and fun talking with the LFS people definitely is a huge chunk of this hobby for me. Having a buddy to go around with definitely makes it much more fun too!

Wow, 11 bags? I sure wish I was able to roll with you.

Well, it looks like you were able to cherry pick a whole lot of nice piexes. I especially like the Darth Maul micro abd Lilac acans.

that golden moray is DOPE.

Really like your setup. Question, that rock is mad made and painted, right? If so, gotta say it looks real nice in the tank.
