It’s been a long time since I’ve cured dry rock hense the question


I bought a couple of pieces 600g of live / dry rock for my cube and decided to cure it in my big tank , question is …. How long will it take to colonise with bacteria ?

Your question is difficult to understand. As with all things in this hobby, more time can be an asset. I’m always adding and taking rocks from the display and sump. Can you swap it with other rocks? I’d let it sit a month before I felt that it was colonized

Sorry for not being clear but I’ve set up a cube 2 days ago which I bought from a fellow reefer , everything was kept wet and it was only 2 hours from strip to set up so no spikes or anything
It came with about 5kg of rock and 2” of sand bed so plenty of life in it
I didn’t want to put the dry rock in incase it had an ammonia spike but I figured if nothing was dead or decaying on it then it wouldn’t cause an issue but to be on the safe side I put it in my 100g
