Hey all!
I have been batting around an idea for a while, inspired by Pirate Software's Ferret rescue 24-7 livestream. If you're unfamiliar, Here's a link:

So my idea is to build a museum-level display tank (likely a 40b or 60b) to house some sort of big, personable animal and stream this aquarium 24-7. Current contender is Max, my baby stone crab who is out and about at all times of day & is loaded with personality.
So here's the question, would anyone watch that if it were available? Turn it on as background, follow Max's growth, etc. I will likely do it no matter what, but if anyone has any ideas for how I could make it a better watching experience then I'm all ears!
If Max does well, I may add cams to some of my other tanks too. I have a 40b frogfish tank with a pair of A. pictus that could be fun to watch haha.

And of course, here's the soon-to-be star: Maximus Augustus Destructus, or Max. he's about 5" across, including his claws, so he's only a baby.

Suggestions for other animals would also be great :) I'll take any excuse to try something new, the weirder the better!!

I'd watch! I sit and watch all kind of live streams. Street live cams, pier live cams, there's a watering hole in Africa live cam I catch sometimes!

...I really need to rethink some life choices...

This is an idea I've been toying around with for ages, just setting up a GoPro inside of the tank and livestreaming it 24/7.

I've always struggled in doing it in such a way that doesn't show anything going on in my house (I don't need a livestream audience to see me getting a midnight snack in my skivvies), but I do love the concept.

Drop a link if/when you do it, I'll definitely follow along!

My current plan is to set up his display in a corner with a low depth-of-field, so all the camera sees is the tank. I'll likely do a blackout curtain behind the camera so that no reflections get in, though it'll happen regardless.
I would consider a GoPro; however, I have witnessed Max dismantle powerheads with pinpoint precision on several occasions so I don't think it would be safe haha. I have to figure out a way to protect the powerheads in the final design.

I'll often have a random livestream running while I study or work on my art, so I'm on much the same page! It's just a shame there are so few reef-related ones besides Coral City.

I tried a couple times myself. My problem is my upload speed is only 8 mbps. This limits the quality of the video, and can cause buffering issues. I like to watch livestreams occasionally though.

That is a good thing to consider :grinning-face-with-sweat: hopefully mine is good enough to work. In the fishroom it's only 5 mbps, but I can run an Ethernet cable or something to help with that...
