I've been around since 2015, had a 20g tank for about 2 years, was starting to have success actually keeping soft and some LPS corals, when I had an unexpected accident that left me away from my tank for almost a month. Unfortunately the only person I could get to check on my tank had no experience with saltwater reefs, and missed a lot of details, and left the tank with almost no flow for about 2 weeks. When I finally was able to go home, I found most of the corals melted and a huge mess of algae. I tried to triage the disaster but the tank more or less crashed within a month.
I finally decided to restart, this time with a 30g for now, and hope to get a larger 75-150 gallon by late summer/fall 2021. I never had fish in the first tank, but will probably start the tank as a FOWLR and slowly add corals.
