Looking for stocking suggestion for my 40 gallon cube. It's an AIO so the display gallon size is a little less, probably more like 30-32 gallons if that matters.

So far I've only got a little clown fish and he's doing great but he needs some tank mates! I'm fairly certain I want to pick up a pistol shrimp and a yellow watchman goby, but I'm pretty flexible otherwise. Any suggestions on what I should be looking for and what order I might should add them? First tank so I'm not super familiar with all the options but I have several fish stores in the area so figure I can find a lot of the common stuff locally at one of those.

I suppose I also need some CUC recommendations that pair well. I figured I'd get 2-3 fish and then some CUC and then some fish, and then some more CUC. Kind of a balance?

Alternating between fish and CUC is a good plan. In terms of fish, maybe another clownfish, dwarf angel, dottyback, royal gramma, anthias… the sky is the limit!

In my 20 gallon I have:

Pink Streak Clown (nice linear swim pattern)
Fang Blenny (very colorful!)
Chalk Bass (blue hues look nice!)
Yellow Tail Damsel (classic! Lol.)

I think in your tank you could add a Pygmy Angel.
