Is the inland saw good compared to the Gryphon?

It is hard to go wrong with a Gryphon. I think @Reefer Matt uses an Inland saw so he might be able to offer additional insight. Good luck!

I like the Inland because it doesn’t recirculate the water used for cutting. I use rodi water. Also, it is adjustable for cutting different sized coral. I haven’t used the Gryphon, but understand that it recirculates the water from cutting and has a smaller cutting area.

How are you guys liking your Inland band saws?

Also, is this saw capable of cutting through rock or only slicing frags? I have a couple of large LPS colonies encrusted onto rocks that I would like to cut off, ideally keeping the colony intact.

It can cut through rock just fine

My issue is that it uses a tank to hold the water/iodine solution that drips on the blade. It drips into a compartment. Then comes out a drain hose to a bucket of your choice. This is a pro because dirty / contaminated water isn’t reused. It’s a con because the compartment it drips into leaks and my saw ends up in a puddle, and that means I have a puddle on my table. I put it in a disposable foil baking pan. Easy “fix” for now, but I do want to get out the silicone and look around and see where the leak is coming from. Most likely very simple and cheap to fix. No regrets still.

Probably 2-3” or whatever the blade gap is. If it can fit you can cut it. The speed is variable as well which I like, along with the drip rate on the blade
