I had her for about three years and always was a great fish and very hearty. Today I found her dead when I got home. She looked fine this morning and has not acted nor looked any different recently. Tank parameters are on point. All other fish look and act fine. I can’t see any external signs or parasites or bacteria. Perhaps there isn’t any known reason, but perhaps if someone sees anything in these post mortem pics that would be helpful. I do know her tail fin showed some damage about a week ago, I suspect my niger trigger had something to do with that. Let me know if any of you see anything.

Sorry for your loss. Anything new "wet" added to the tank within the last 30 days or so?

So sorry for your loss. I had a flasher wrasse for around a year and nothing was added to the tank. I was staring at the aquarium and my wrasse started spazzing out and within seconds it was dead. Strangest thing ever.

Sorry for your loss. Beautiful fish. If the trigger was bullying her that could be the cause. LA says to use caution with triggers and tangs.

Nothing new in Tank for over a year. Trigger and her were tank mates since the beginning, but that is my thought too.

Unfortunately stuff can hit the fan quickly.

Sorry for your loss, not much to discern from the photos, unfortunately. Unless quite large (6 inches plus) I don’t find nigers to be all that aggressive, but if they if did decide to attack they’re well equipped to do a lot of damage very quickly.

It just happens sometimes for no obvious reason and short of an autopsy at this point you will never no the cause.
