I don’t have time to devote to a full reef anymore- but I don’t want to exit the hobby. New job requires travel so I won’t be immediately available if there is a swing. My goal is a lagoon-style build with inhabitants that are not overly sensitive to low or high nutrients or alk swings.

Right now I’m picturing a mushroom, toadstool, and RFA lagoon with sexy shrimp and porcelain crabs. [will have live rock from Gulf, Australia, or Fiji]

Please let me know if you have ideas for very forgiving soft corals/invertebrates!

I’m open to fish- but worried my wife could forget to feed them. I’m inclined to omit the fish. If there’s a sand-sifting fish that can survive on detritus for a few days that I don’t know about- feel free to drop it 😂

The corals you listed are good. I'd also throw Zoas and Duncans in there. Both of those are fairly easy to keep up with.

I’m in the same boat. I want easy. I’m going to run a nature dimensions roller with the extension on mine and then going to run a auto aqua AWC/ATO with the lines ran to my garage as my water change station is right there and run my ATO to my brute rodi can and my water change line to my salt water station. I’m also running the waste line to my washer drain which is about 12ft for the tank.

Depending on how set you are on having sexy shrimp, you could look into a possum wrasse or else a cryptic aka pink-streaked wrasse. They'll forage for themselves and shouldn't have an issue with less frequent feedings. I keep both together currently in a softy dominated 25gal peninsula.

As for soft corals and invertebrates, I don't think you'll have too much trouble with swings.
If you can get your hands on one, and don't mind less blue lighting, I'd highly recommend a yellow fiji leather. I've got one and it hasn't given me any issues and has been growing steadily. Also, a nice thick stemmed gorgonian if you're into that sort of thing.
