My nutrients have slowly become increasingly low to the point where I tested 0.00 phosphates with a UL Hanna Checker and Nitrates 1-2 today. I already increased feeding the past few weeks and removed filter floss. Should I remove my filter socks as well?

Same boat here my Phosphates were at 0 and nitrates 2-5 left for work and a moth died in my tank while I was gone and now phosphates are at .021 nitrates are still at 2 but have GHA started that came in on a frag so I assume the nitrates are being used up by the GHA. Got a few snails today to help clean that up.

With too much phosphate, you will have algae problems and your corals will suffer. On the other hand, if you get overzealous and maintain zero phosphate for an extended period of time, your corals and other important organisms in your reef aquarium will starve.
