My tank has become relatively stable, the three corals I have, a platy, a galaxea, and a trumpet, seem to be happy. I’d like to add more corals but I’m interested to know about spacing them. How close can I put the frags while accounting for growth? Is there a rule of thumb for this? This is be a strictly LPS tank, for simplicities sake.

Depends what LPS it is really. Some have super long sweepers, others don’t. What LPS were you looking at adding?

It’s also a luck game. I have had trachys hammers nestled against anemones and various other LPS touching each other, with no problems, but have had friends who have had the opposite experience

I was going to get the assorted mystery 10 pack from Tidal Gardens, but you’ve made me think more research might be better with my smaller tank size(32gallon). Do most coral of the same type play nice together?

I have a 20g and I’m pretty haphazard with my LPS. I would just avoid/isolate notorious ones, such as galaxea, there’s a type of acans with a nasty sting, frogspawn and maybe torches? Usually a good idea anyways, but doing that will guarantee a better chance if they decide to use sweeper tentacles. You should be fine tho, just place in areas of low-moderate flow, varied light depending on the coral, and doesn’t have to have crazy amounts of room, and it’ll be fine. I find it personally better to specifically order the corals you are after, always better to plan your tank stocking. Let’s you keep everything safe and considered IME:)

I’ve got my galaxea as far to the right and away from everything else as I can get it. I just get nervous gluing stuff in

Put it in a spot you can enjoy viewing it at, just plan around it. I use to be scared to glue anything down, now I glue EVERYTHING down. It’s great, the tank looks way more grown in. It’s a good idea, corals can attach better and some encrust and spread. Just glue. Worst case, you take the rock out and remove. Most corals I’ve found i can just snap off the rocks anyways
