I have never been attached to a dog the way i am to our little dachshund. She is the most caring loving little thing I have ever encountered.

2 weeks ago she was very sick, she could barely breathe and her heart beating super quick. Rushed her to the vet emergency center late at night and found out something unbelievable. This 18month old little angel had a birth defect that had only shown to be a problem now that she was loose space in her chest cavity from growing to adult size. Her spleen somehow was always in her upper chest with her heart and lung and causing massive issues. We were told if she didn't have surgery to correct it she wouldn't make it very long. If she did have surgery it's about a 30-50% chance she would make it through. Because it has been there so long her spleen may be fused to the other organs and it's a delicate procedure to separate them. Now I'm an ex fighter generally a pretty tough guy. I have never wailed like I did that week!. She came home with us for a few days while they got ready for her surgery. Fortunately this little dog is so strong she made it through, they managed to remove her spleen with minimal complications. She was so strong that they let her come home 2 days after surgery when we thought it would be a full week: it's been two weeks on and she's back to the happy loving caring little girl she was before. I'm out of pocket nearly all the money I had put aside for my new tank build but I wouldn't have it any other way.

She's too small for the cones so she wares baby onesies with a tail hole cut out to keep her from getting to her stitches!
