I am trying to use my media basket from in-tank as a small refugium. My experimental setup is as follows: The center section has Sea Lettuce and the bottom section has Red Ogo. My light is the Innovative Marine Chaetomax Refugium LEDS. I don’t know if the light can penetrate the algae given the small space and density if the plants. So, I will trim and rotate the plants every few days and see what happens. Has anyone tried this type of setup?

Hi blaxsun. The tank was made with a clear glass back so all I had to do was stick the light on it. The light is mounted vertically and covers both plants. I realize this is not by any means a typical or ideal setup for a fuge. However, due to lack of space I decided to give this a try.

Good luck, I tried to use that and was unable to get sufficient lighting from the back. I wound up stuffing the macro into the display and it took off like a weed.

If you in fact have Gracilaria Parvispora, I suggest you get Chaeto or Gracilaria Hayi. Gracilaria Parvispora requires intense lighting and does best at elevated temperatures.
