Recently moved from Norwalk, California to Portland, Oregon. Sold all my livestock minus the corals and drove it up myself. Set up a 50 gallon tank with 12lbs of live rock, assorted macroalgae, HOB filter with sponge/floss, 7 pacific oysters (Crassostrea gigas) from Fanny Bay, and coral.
Tank has been running for about two months now. Dosing live foods only (3 copepod species, 4 live phytos, live rotifers, and baby brine) daily. Water change is 15% every week.
CUC consists of ceriths, nerites, cats eye turbo, red banded trochus, XL astreas, tiger conch, nassarius, strombus maculatus, collonistas.
Looking to add a Molly Miller Blenny and Marine Betta as my only fish. Possible a dwarf lionfish at the one year mark.
In conjunction with this tank I have a 30gallon "Quarantine" set up with my macro trimmings, assorted hermits (more than I can count), calciferous macros, and breeding lyretail mollies for feeders.
5 oysters filter this tank. The HOB is just to catch detritus since macros don't like it.
Accidently bottomed out with nutrients because of the oysters so I removed a few. Been adding NO3 and more flow. Cyano has begun to recede and all my corals are coloring up nicely again. Macros are doing great too. Euchema after having fragmented begun to grow quite nicely. I scattered pieces to give them the best chances possible.
Hidden cup coral now has some cups! Woo-hoo. Feeding live foods everyday is paying off.
Got a montipora palawanensis from someone's tank breakdown. Tried to ID but no luck. Looks awesome. Anyone care to help out?
