Magnifica and the long tentacle .

would like to know are they the same thing or are they different and if so what is the difference.

Very different, LTA/doreensis is a sand dwellar, Mag high up on rock for all the light it can get, likes good flow, LTA medium flow, LTA about 18" max, Mag about 2'

Could you tell me how do you tell the difference between the two by looking at them.

Those two species I can usually tell at first glance, LTA usually has curled tentacles and usually mostly beige/tan w/ color hints, or sometimes you can get a nice purple or green one, while mags have more blunt looking tents often tipped w/ different color, and different color patterns, but really for those and all nems foot and base are best for certain ID.
Mags typically have a more purple or magenta foot/base, while LTA have a pinkish redish foot and transparent dots or spots on column.

This is a LTA I had long ago in a swap that shows base pretty good.
