Mai tai or Blood orange clownfish

Does anyone know what is the difference?

Are they brown or red?

the blood orange is more of a brownish red and the mai tai is more of a dark red

Old thread I know. LOL. As someone who has both Mai Tai and Blood Orange I thought I'd post my thoughts. They're basically the same fish and I'd be hard pressed to tell you they look any different. As you may or may not know, they're both Ocellaris x Maroon. The only difference is which was which parent-wise (One the father was Maroon and the mother Ocellaris and the other the opposite, I forget which is which).

And here is the Mai Tai after I've had him for a couple of years:


I've had the Blood Orange for about 7 years. I had a pair but at some point a couple of years ago the male jumped out of the tank. The female is one of the bossiest clownfish I've ever had.

The Mai Tai I've had a pair for about 2 years. They get along great.

That said they are probably my favorite looking clownish of any of the many varieties I've had. Anyone looking to get either, I'd just get what ever is easiest to get.
