Making preserved algae with glycerol?

Here's a fun one...if I cultured some microalgae, could I collect the algae with a 1 micron filter sock, concentrate it, and then store it in the freezer with food-grade glycerol as an antifreeze? Thanks :)

I ran across a protocol for doing this with T-Iso, but it used DMSO as the antifreeze
