So I been looking at a mantis shrimp tank for a while and I heard that they can break glass tanks but I saw you can be fine with a glass 40 gallon tank.
I also want to know what filtration do you run on a mantis shrimp tank hang on back or sump?
And how do you Aqua scape a mantis shrimp tank?

There are definitely some examples where a Mantis has broken a glass aquarium, but I don't think it's all that common. Many will put down a piece of acrylic on top of the glass bottom to protect the glass from the mantis.

40 gallons is typically suggested for the large Peacock Mantis, Odontodactylus scyllarus, but you can keep many other, smaller Mantids in smaller tanks.

They don't need any special filtration except that they can be messy and create a lot of waste. You can use a sump or HOB filters, I had a small N. wennerae mantis in a 15 gallon AIO.

The aquascaping is a bit dependent on the species you want to keep. For example, the Peacock mantis really needs some PVC hides built into the 'scape so it cane feel comfortable. Other species will just need some shells and rubble pieces they can move around and make burrows as needed.

There is a sub-forum here for Mantids with some more info:

I hope that helps and good luck!
