So I already made a thread for my question on mantis shrimp but I thought of putting it here for more knowledge.
So is it fine if I get a glass tank because I don’t want to spend a crazy amount on an acrylic tank.
Also should you run a sump , a canister, or hob filter for filtration?
And what are the basic for aquascaping the mantis shrimp tank?
Also I’m planning on a 40 gallon or maybe something bigger what ever I get a better deal with on facebook marketplace.

I've heard of people keeping Mantis shrimp in glass tanks without issues. But, their punch can shatter glass so you just need to be prepared to clean up 40g of water. Which means, if you are on a second floor with rooms under you, the damage will be more than the original acrylic tank purchase.

i think you might be going too fast. how many tanks are you making? what happened to the shark tank?

I’m just having a lot of ideas but one of my family members saw a mantis shrimp a lfs and they been thinking about having a tank for a mantis shrimp.
And the shark tank it just a thought for me because I think it would be cool but it’s just idea of to think of the things I could do a couple of years down the road. When I more experience.

They probably can break the tank glass, but I’ve seen them punch the glass a few times and the tank was fine.

All you need is like a HOB filter, a few caves so it can hide, and a light.

A 40 gal is fine but it’s honestly more than you need. They just stay in their cave all day.

This the multiple ideas and post about different tanks is because those topic there’s not a lot of information on them and I want to you the information about the stuff before I jump in there ideas that could happen after I research more about it.

There's nothing wrong with asking questions about things you're interested in, that's what R2R is for 🙂

You really don’t want a hob filter in saltwater! So much salt creep if you don’t keep up with cleaning it! Learned from experience… You just need something for water flow and I use the wave makers you can find on Amazon or in stores :) most of the filtering will come in the form of live rock, but a sump is a good idea to put filter floss and a skimmer etc

There’s a tiny (>1%) chance it’ll shatter glass and only if it’s a big smasher. If it happens to make a crack in the glass, I’m sure you’ll see it coming, it won’t be a random shattering of it lol
