Haha, I’ve found myself in a bit of a pickle!
I picked up a used 130g system (48x24x20) for a REALLY good price. It came with some solid gear. Good lighting (which I’ll sell since I already have XR30s for this upgrade) and a couple of MP40s. Honestly, the MP40s alone made buying the whole system worth it.
But when I got the tank home, I noticed more scratches in the display than I realized. Some are fairly deep and can be felt with a fingernail. I haven’t seen the tank filled yet, so I don’t know how noticeable they’ll be with water.
Now I’m going back and forth on whether to sell the tank and find another one or just roll with it. If I keep it, at least I won’t stress about scratching it more with my flipper, haha! But I might end up kicking myself in a year or two when I’m constantly staring at scratches. Definitely stuck in analysis paralysis!

I had the opportunity to buy an SR80 locally recently for a fantastic deal and kick myself everyday for not jumping on it!
Is the tank somewhere like the garage you could fill it with water to see how visible the scratches are?
My concern would also be algae growth filling in the scratches down the road...had that happen with a biocube...they filled with green film algae and became really unsightly.

Nah, its in my dining room, I will probably put it against a wall and fill it soon. Good point on the scratches and algae... thats super ugly and an absolute pain to clean.

Poor dude made it through acclimation and did his thing for a few days, but he croaked shortly after. :(
Maybe there’s a reason they are not commonly kept! Though I assumed they would do well since they’re large ceriths. All the other CUC from that order is still doing its thing.

Man, I wish I had the corals growing out of control problem! :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:Cut back a bunch of GSP! Everyone is happy and healthy.
I do have a few Aptasia to deal with, and a massive colony of “Mohawk” zoas that has gotten out of hand…

Everything is coasting along! Stopped feeding frozen, phosphate are much easier to control. Still dosing nitrate + AFR to keep things steady.
Corals continue to grow and kill each other lol! Still planning a new build, somewhere in the 150-200g range. Just looking at different tanks, Fiji Cube, Innovative Marine, Water box and stuck in analysis paralysis land. Maybe I'll do an SCA 150 + Aluminum extrusion stand, love that look.

Finally purchased an upgrade!
Went with the Fiji Cube 108 EXT, after a lot of back and forth of 4 vs 5ft. I think the 5ft would be a little too dominating in the space that I have, and not leave me extra room for shelves/cabinet to store all the crap associated with reefing.
Looking forward to receiving it and getting things going!

Took delivery of the Fiji Cube 108 EXT today. Bad news!
The stand is different than what was advertised, and I got their new "v2" stand, which is extruded aluminum. At first I was excited about the surprise "upgraded" stand, thinking it was more premium than the plywood stand I was expecting.
Turns out I was wrong. The extrusion is very thin and rough 3030, with only 1mm of thickness. Yikes. Additionally, the preassembled bottom frame was not square and off by about 1/4inch due to rough cuts and some of the hardware was rusty. After modifying and correcting the base frame (suggested by Fijicube, not just me being a dingus.), I leveled the base and placed the empty tank on top. WOBBLE CITY! There is only side bracing from the panels, and nothing in the back. So this whole funky "ladder box" style stand is a wobbly ill fitting mess. Not to mention the panels were not predrilled, which the doors mount to. The instructions also do not specify the distance/spacing to mount them.
I'm sure the aluminum is study enough compression wise, but I do not trust the stand on shear strength. Especially factoring in the cantilever and the front brace not having compression supports on the corners.
