ati 4x36

so the manufacturer says upto an 80 gallon tank for the lights, but wouldnt the dimensions play a factor? can i go to a 4' tank if its a 75 gallon? (48x18x20) what about 90? (48x18x24) what about 120? (48x24x24)

anyone? im about to pull the trigger on a new (used) tank, and just want to make sure before i buy.

does the height of the tank really matter or is it just the footprint?

You can certainly hang one over a 75 or even a 90 but you might have a minor spotlight effect on the edges. What do you plan on keeping?

I wouldn't go bigger than the 75g with that light, it's only a 9" wide fixture.
so is it the gallons that matter or the footprint?

like would this light handle a 48x18x30 tank the same as a 48x18x20?

im not sure yet, i wanted longer tank so i can keep bigger fish, but i figured im capped at 48" if im keeping these lights.

i was leaning towards a 48x18x21 75 gallon tank

but i also saw someone was selling a 125 gallon 36x36x30 pentagon corner tank - the furthest stretch of the tank is about 52" on that, although technically only a 36" front panel. not sure if the light can handle this tank or not.

The foot print is what matters, idk why they list gallons on their lights.

48” max length , 24” max width id go, you can add leds to the fixture.
Oh I didn’t see it’s only 4 bulb..

ive come across a 48x24x31 150 gallon tank, you think my lights could work? over time just add some leds to the back?
