Maxreefer's Elos "The 2nd"

Quick shot to show how nice the coralline starts to grow. There was no LR when I started. Just dry rock.
NO pic manipulation. That's the way it looks

Guess those will be the last additions for a while.
Thanks "wetthumbfrags" for the great Live Sale last week
Pics taken a couple hours after arrival:

Today I tried to make a video from the Elos. It is not the greatest but not that bad either.

It seems camcorder and LED's don't like each other that much and the true colors of the corals don't always get captured very well. Therefore I included some cool pics to illustrate how the corals look. Lots of frags in there but I think once they start to grow it will be nice...

Have a peak, turn up those speakers and enjoy... 1smile1

One of my first attempts to get some top down shots but still will have to practice a lot. Some pics are kinda blurry but you get an idea
The reflections of the lights in the water makes it even more difficult.

First of all CONGRATS to the new Elos you are getting. You won't be disappointed.
I got those from "Bulkreefsupply" (LINK)
The Elos cabinet doesn't come with the little compartment. Build it myself. I didn't wanted to damage the stand to much by drilling holes in it etc. and just got some laminated panels from HD and used them on the back and sides. and then build the divider/cabinet for all the electrical stuff to keep everything better organized and clean.

Sorry, Also what brand are you using for cal, alk, and mag?

Using the "Bulkreefsupply" 2 part kits for Cal. Alk and Mag

Here are a few new pics to spice up my thread a little ....

What size fittings did you use for your NextReef Shorty reactors? I want to do the same thing with mine, but can't find the right fittings at lowes.

I used quick connects. One side screws into the reactor and the other side has the quick connect for the tubing.
Most stores have the ones from a company called: WATTS. The part you need is PL3038. It is 1/2OD for the tubing and 3/8MIP (the screw part)
Once you have the part just see what tubing fits while at the store. Mine is 1/2 inch OD. Fits perfectly a Maxi Jet btw.

Here is a link to part you need from the Lowes website: LINK

Thank you for the help, I read NextReef's website's stat sheet as the MIP being 1/2" and have been hunting for 1/2" for weeks. I will be T'ing off my retrun pump and using that to run my reactors.

I guess I am stopping at Lowes on my way home tonight.

Have you had any problems with microbubbles?

Also, how does the stand seem? Does it seems sturdy enough to hold all the weight of the tank?

A local well known reefer decided to leave the hobby after many years and I was able to get some nice frags and true colonies from his collection. I picked those up this morning.

A few teaser pics for the morning crowd. Lots more to come tonight.
I couldn't capture the awesome colors that good but they really look great in the tank

Nope. No micro bubbles ever. I know there have been some reports some people had issues with them on the smaller tanks with the Eheim return pumps.
The newer ones come with the Sicce pumps like I have on the 120.

Even when the stand looks lightweight it is very stable and well put together. Even without the tank on it there was no way to see any movement while pushing against the fron or sides.
I am sure Elos figured out very well the stand would hold the weight before bringing it on the market
