Finally pulled the trigger on the gyre to replace some my RW8 and RW4 and I am having issues. It is currently running at 60% in pulse mode with about 1 second bursts. It's in a 4 ft 75 gallon with some LPS and SPS. My rock work is set up so I have a large island and a small island not touching the front or back glass. The issue I am having is flow is perfect on the half of the tank where the gyre is horizontal placement 2" below the water line. The other half of the tank is a dead zone. In all the videos people where saying that flow was hitting the other end of their tanks at 30% mine only reaches about half way across unless I turn it up full power but then I get a noisy sand storm and my wall hammer and Duncan's are not happy no matter where I place them. Has anyone ever messed with the angle of the flow outlet? Shouldn't it be moving more water at 60%? It's definitely stronger when not in pulse mode but then I get sand storms. How is yours configured?

Try turning your flow direction. Is it creating alot of turbulence on the water surface. If so it could be directional .

Just asking, is it right side up? and yes try the flow direction. When I read a 150 I was like that is to much for a 75gal tank. Did you change the rotor blades? check to see if the blades are the right ones from the factory?

I will take a look when the lights come on but I am pretty sure it is both right side up and has the correct rotors. It's for sure pushing water forward from both outlets. I do get good surface movement (which I like) but only on half the tank.

I wondered about that also when setting it up. The letters on the front label are right side up lol. I could see that being easy to do though.

Just had to check ;). check the blades to see if they are in right, and you can adjust the flow by moving the cages for the blades. I run mine at 50% constant right now and have a ton of water moving with my 130's. As a side note I had my hands on the new controller yesterday and I am pretty impressed what settings we can program. Here is my movement

I confirmed it is in A-B configuration, angles the cages up a notch, lowered the whole assembly, and switched to 30% constant flow. Much better! I'm still not 100% happy but I think a little teaming and things will be perfect.

I ended up getting a second one. I have my reef keeper controlling them with one on each side. I have one on in pulse mode for an hour then the other on in pulse mode for an hour. I am getting much better results this way.

Running a single on my 90 and super happy so far. Although I run more of a back wall rockwork structure than island. Waiting on the new controller then will probably purchase a second one and tune down a bit.
