have got to day I new maxspect razor r420r. Very nice led unit
I have set the unit to a preset setting number 2. I am worried that it's out putting 100% at 12 noon till 18pm when it turns down the led. I only have a 3ft tank Would you say preset 2 is ok ???? Giving its putting 100% out on LEDs is any one using the r420r and what do you think I should use Thanks

If you just got it today, I would not use it that way. Try customizing it so it does not pass 50-60 % for the next couple of days then start ramping it up slowly every couple of days so your corals and live stock acclimate properly to them otherwise you could cause bleaching.

Ok thanks for getting back to me. I will have a go at that this morning. The the unit went to blue through out the night looked very good in the tank.

This is a great unit but the instructions leave little to be desired. I have mine over a 2'x4'x 16" deep rimless tank and I love it. I have it hanging from the ceiling 15" above the water and get a perfect spread. I have installed a simple lamp timer so the blues turn off from 10pm-7am. The instructions don't explain it, but even if you cut power to the unit the internal clock keeps going. I found the moonlights to be far too bright for my tastes.

I turned my lights up gradually from 50-75% over two weeks. I tried going past 85% after that and fried some LPS in three days. The light is very powerful, but my Acans and Blastos are thriving like crazy.

Yes I am using the 120 over a 22" 46g cube and really enjoy it. The moon lights are very bright but I also have a non light for my tunze ph's so I also turn off the moonlights and just go with the tunze one.

Im interested to see if anyone tried the 120 optics too. I know they just came out not long ago.

I just put the 120 lenses on mine. I like it a lot better. I was getting bleaching on my sps with the 90 degree lenses. I get better spread with the 120s and the corals look better. Since the lens change they look a lot better. Some of my zoas weren't opening under the 90s and as soon as I switched to the 120s they opened up. I think with the 90s the fixture needs to be dimmed down a lot or quite a bit higher over the tank.

I have 2 razor 120's and a razor 160 on my 90g reef. The 160 is in the back and the 2 120's are on the front. I placed the 120 Degree Reflectors on the back because I was concerned about light penetration on the bottom front of the tank, all my rock is in the back. I turned up % and my sps and lps are loving them so far.

I've had this light for about 3monthes now over my 40b I love it and then I got the120 lenses and it's even better I would watch turning it up to 100% it's very powerfull

Good looking light, so good that it's a shame to hide it behind a canopy. The only other light fixtures I feel that way about are the ATI powermodules.

Hmm sounds like everyone is favoring the 120 lenses. My original 90 degree lenses were frying under the 450 nm leds for some reason. Has anyone else seen this on their units? I have been running my blue channel at 100% and ramping up to 100% on the whites only till noon and it starts going back down till midnight

Thanks to Chris at Coralvue he sent me replacements. But I would have to buy 6 120 lens sets at$15/each

Not that I can tell. I still get great shimmer with the 120s.
