Do mantis hide in the sand or rocks ? I didn't see or hear mine all day ?

Mine built a cave under the rock and kicked all sand aside.

New shot of her coming out to interact.

That's cool , what size of a tank it's urs in , also what kind of equipment u have ?

She is currently in a 14g biocube. I need to upgrade after my wedding next week.

Tank is pretty much stock. Has a 24w 10k bulb I believe. Probably going to downgrade that here shortly. It's stocked with about 4 inches of sand. Mix between black beauty and fine crushed coral.

I have 4 different macro algae in the tank with a few basic polyps and shrooms.

Dosing with mag/cal/iodine.

Might get a UV sterilizer on the tank soon. Or wait till after the upgrade.

That's such a beauty. Always wanted a peacock mantis. Just don't have the room for a dedicated tank. Very nice setup.

Sounds like a really cool set up for now , how big is she ? What size do they need full grown ?

She is about the size of a bratwurst. 5"

The tank is actually too small for her now. I know she needs something that is 10x the length of her body. Hoping to do a 40g breeder.

Thank you!

Purdy. Lucky. U should try getting it used to your hand so u can hand feed and touch... If your brave enough lol I've seen it done before though. Mine aren't that big I have a purple spotted she's nice but never tried hand feeding but i'm gonna start trying with my baby mantis I have that's super tiny not even inch long and about as wide as a toothpick, not to sure what kind that one is might be just a little green mantis at this point if it hit me it wouldnt even hurt

Amazing creatures of the ocean..gotta love mother nature !

Well it seems to me Khalissi may pass away... Ever since she molted she lays there moving her flippers. Her eyes are active. But she doesn't look to good.

I thought she had a good molt. And the lights have been out since she molted.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have done a water change and dosed with calcium and mag.
