It's not neccessarily a downer, just a reality. Takes someone special to take care of a dog like that.

We had a min pin with diabetes, got a shot every day. Not the same, but you have to want to keep a dog like that and not everyone will

Yeah, unfortunately this is true. some people see their pets as disposable, which is heartbreaking to me. My pets are part of my family, and will do whatever I can for them. Heck, it bothers me when I see people treat their fish as disposable!

I mean, how can you not Crack up when you come home and find your dog has tucked them self in?! Lol, seriously came home for lunch and she was like this:

Super cute! You will he so glad you got both so they can grow up together! I got my Lacey 6 months after Bo and almost 10 years later they are inseparable!

So cool! It is taking some time, but our old one Maddy is finally letting the pups around her more. I think having the two together is a plus. They get to play together and they tend to whine a lot less at night time with the other to keep them company.

Just thought I'd mention, I am a Veterinary Technician (actually am the head tech at my practice, 16yrs experience) , sometimes when you have two pups like this, they will bond to each other instead of to you guys. This can make training and behavior issues more difficult. So, if it was me, I'd send a puppy to me ----- just kidding.:D
I would make sure the each get alone time with the family, crate, walk and train them separately, one on one time with your adult dog (two puppies can be too obnoxious to the existing dog together!) , and then have some playtime together. It is a pain, but temporary as they age it will become unnecessary but is the best for them long term.

We have seen times were the grief of losing their companion causes big issues . Refusing to eat, depression, anxiety with the destructive behaviors that can follow.. So, I Don't mean to be critical at all, I just want y'all to have a great relationship with your pups, and avoid the problems that can develop.

Yeah, everything I've read about it is to put a special effort into making them become independent, form their own personality and not be "two parts of a whole. " and what I've seen, in the vet practice, makes me agree with that.

My dogs (all separated by years, though) have never really cared about each other. My SO always wanted them to play or snuggle each other, but they just wanted to know where I was, what I was doing, and they would let the other dogs live here because I said so type attitude... I'm OK with that though it is pretty cute when they snuggle up with each other.

Almost a year old!

However if you look closely we are surrounded by block tonight. In the emergency vet cause the two little "sweet hearts" decided to get into some medicine they weren't supposed to. Getting them all fixed up.
