Melafix and GSP

Hi all, my first post here.

I’m not totally new to saltwater fish keeping but I recently added a few soft corals to my refurbished tank. A couple of zoas and a gsp which got its own nice little island with plenty of flow and ample light around 110 par. I did some research on dips and there’s not much available to me here until I read that people have used melafix to dip. I had access to it so that’s what I used in the dosage I found on this website and for just under 5 minutes.

Since dipping my red hornet and bacon and egg zoas have opened fine are are doing well. But the gsp hasn’t opened. It’s been 3 weeks now… I’m wondering if there is something in melafix that gsp doesn’t like and I’ve actually managed to kill one of the hardest to kill corals?

On the plus side there looks to be 2 tiny zoas on one side of that gsp frag that have popped up. I’m not sure what to do with it now?

I wasn't familiar with Melafix, so I Googled it. API's information does not say much, if anything, about using it on corals, good or bad. If the Zoa's are not affected, but the GSP is, I would take the GSP out and rinse it with fresh saltwater (not containing Melafix). Place it back in the tank in a low flow area with low PAR. I would also consider running some carbon to pull out any Melafix still in the water column.

Assuming all other parameters are in-line in your tank as well. My GSP seems to be only affected by Alk swings, and once those get under control, it perks back up.
