I fed the tank earlier, still no light yet . It looked like the fish ate? Could be allowing the shadow of hope to trick my eyes ! I gotta wait about 20 minutes ! LOL o_O

OK The fish didn't eat. It would approach ,which is better then yesterday.
Do I dose the epsum salts or not. I must decide soon. I'm about to flip a coin !

The thing about dosing epsom salt is there is no harm in trying.

I also had this issue occur with a large blue reef chromis. It self corrected in two weeks.
After that, It gradually got better and fully healed.

It did eat periodically. Try feeding smaller food like cyclopods to sustain it for the meantime.

OK, I proceded with the epsum laced water change. I must confess I got so wrapped up in whether this treatment would harm the whole tank, I forgot about the poor fish ! i don't think the prognosis is good. I'll be sure to let You Good People know what happens. After all this beautiful animal is (most likely) going to pay the ultimate price .

Checking in, I dosed round 2 of epsum salts. Everybody is fine except the wrasse. He's resting upright on the sand bed & breathing very rapid. . Just a matter of time now I think .
This the 2nd Melanus . The 1st lived a lot of years & got big. Appeared to me the fish just got more colorful as time passed. Iv'e already talked about this So now I learned the epsum salts are OK to dose. Helps with swelling & boosting Magnesium.

Checkin in Folks, I couldn't find the poor wrasse today. He was out yesterday & acting the same as before. So now I'm concerned about finding this fish so I can remove it. Couldn't look today but tomorrow ,I can make a better effort. Anyway I'm concerned about this fish decaying & cause an AM spike. It is/was a good sized fish ,may 4 inches? The tank & sump has around 200 gls . Filling a barrel now so I can do a "good" W/T if nee

Do you have nassarius snails? They will quickly take care of the body if he died while buried in the sand.

Thanks, I feel real bad when I loose a fish . Especially when it's due to my negligence . This time I don't think it was my fault. I feel strongly that I have a moral obligation to do everything I can to give all animals in my care ,a happy, long life.
