If I remember correctly, you can figure out how much mg to dose based on how much alk your tank consumes? If so, what do I divide my Mg dosage by?

I asked the same question a few weeks back. That’s what I was told it was by Randy and it has been rock solid think I may have even bumped my salinity a little (nothing big). Dosing 4ml by Hand every am.

Depends, of course, on what you are dosing. My DIY 2/3 part uses 610 mL of the magnesium part for each gallon of the other two. That's presumably the 16% mentioned.

It also depends a bit on which organisms use the alk/calcium/magnesium, since it varies and coralline uses more magnesium than most corals. A typical ratio of consumption is:

17.5 mg/L calcium
1.5 mg/L magnesium
1 meq/L = 2.8 dKH of alkalinity

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
