Got a mix reef 54 corner tank ihavdual250 watt MH lights if i was going to suspend them over tank how high would i have to suspend them with out burn corals

I'd start at about 3' above the water. Then you can move it down until you get the amount of light you want.

Do you have access to a PAR meter?

I have cayman suns with 250w hqi bulbs and mine sit 12 inches off the water and I’ve never had to acclimate any coral to them! My par is 1000 at the water line and drops to 350-600 on my rocks at a foot down and 200 ish on the sand bed… all my sps love it and even all my LPs seem to love the high light also.

I’d go 12-18” above the water. I have 2 Hamilton cayman sun 250s on my 65 and mine are 18” above the water with no acclimation needed

This is 12” off and my tank loves it! I put all my new corals in 400+ par and they take off. Never bleached or anything.
