Look at this cool “Checkered Coris Wrasse!”

:p:squinting-face-with-tongue::winking-face-with-tongue:
I hate the use of “coris” but I really hate the hortulanus wrasse.

On February, 2022, @eatbreakfast said this:

“I would advise against a hortulanus wrasse with peaceful wrasses, they get large and mean.”

I had him around 2021, but he never caused me any issues cause he was small. I trusted Live Aquaria and got it from my LFS. I rehomed it after reading that post.

Seems like I made the right decision! This was it in my old tank.

Yeah…
I think I was mostly unlucky but this one went rogue and attacked everything in the tank. Even the much bigger foxface.

Was yours bigger? I think I was just lucky for the short time I had it. I only had it for a few months. Maybe almost a year? I can’t remember.

It didn’t harm anything, but maybe because my tank was larger than average, and the wrasse was still small. I really think it would’ve been a menace if I had it longer.

Honestly, that isn’t unlucky. You’re lucky if you have a really peaceful one but most times that’s just not possible.
But of course, there’s always the odd one that’s peaceful. As with any large Halichoeres.

Just be glad you aren’t unlucky and get boisterous smaller wrasses! What happened to ‘Radiants are shy and stress easily’? Mine wants to rule over the wrasses and nobody steps out of his line. And then my newly introduced flasher is the one who goes for my two fairies! Again, what happened to flashers being shy and stressy? Just my ‘luck’ I guess.

Is that linkia that big or just sat on the glass?

The tank is beautiful by the way, with or without Acros :)
It really is that big! I’ve had it for about a year. You can see it in this picture.

I had a nice fish shopping day today!

  • Carpenter wrasse
  • Blue streak cleaner wrasse
  • Ruby red dragonet (don’t know if it’s sex)
  • Fire fish goby
  • Royal gramma
  • Square back anthias (female)
  • skunk cleaner shrimp
I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for a fish addition in a long time!

For my acropora QT, I added an electric blue damsel. My display is so full of life. I’m most excited about the ruby red dragonet.

I haven’t seen the flasher and square back anthias at all today.

I got a tiny snippet of the ruby mandarin

I saw the violet hue from under the rock from the royal gramma.

The firefish and blue streaked wrasse were the stars of the show.

It almost feels like the anthias and wrasse jumped out. I can’t see them at all! I’ve checked bihourly lol.

I’m pretty sure they are still in the tank. I’m just spoiled from my tangs, lyretail anthias, and chromis.

The new fish I got have such different personalities. They are much more shy and hidden. It adds more interest to the tank. I get to play hide and seek now.

All of the new fish are still alive…except possibly for the ruby red dragonet.

I was home to entire day, and I couldn’t see the ruby red one time! It‘s like it disappeared. I checked everywhere, but couldn’t find it.

I suspect it jumped out, but I haven’t seen the body. I checked as best as I could.

I’m making a lid for the tank. I want to keep the fish I purchased, and I also want to add more wrasses.

I had screen covers, but I didn’t like the way I made them. I will try to make it better.
