GUYS! Today was an AMAZING day! :D

I did 2 major things with our tank: I installed my first ever APEX and I did cable management.

I never knew how much I needed an apex until I got one. Dang. I’m ecstatic!

Here’s the before: a messy cabinet with no apex

That was the same exact photo that you guys initially called me out on. I only posted it so you can see the before of the cables. :grinning-face-with-sweat:

Here’s my current FTS (and I promise I didn’t adjust the lighting before this picture)

See! It’s straight! Ignore the nori clip please. There’s a paper towel for a very good reason. The magnet on the outside auctions really really hard onto the glass. I will add some neat felt.

And I’m dealing with a lot of film algae. My rocks are green but I’m not worried because I know the secret to bypassing the ugly stage. Just give me 6 weeks for the rest of my CUC to finish the QT. ;)

Also, I came up with a Brilliant idea all by myself!

I was struggling with my UV because the only way I could change the bulbs/quartz sleeve was to remove the entire unit (which would result in a wet mess).

It took me about 1.5 months until my mind came up with this idea. I sounds so simple, but this was a revolutionary idea!

I have an empty cabinet on the other side and the UV can literally just slide through. This will be accomplished this coming Friday!

This picture was before my cable management.

There is still the problem of no sand in the display...
Patience. Soon there will be coralline which will look the same! I refuse to ever use sand again. It blows around, traps detritus, and is difficult to clean.

I like my tanks very pristine with a lot of flow. Sand is not right for my style. :)

I updated the first introduction post in this build thread. I will also add a table of contents short. I’m very proud of the way this build thread is turning out.

So remember I said I added 80 snails to my coral QT?

I don’t have any algae in my QT (I’m dosing lots of phosphates but they keep getting soaked up)

I was planning on supplementing with these algae wafers, but my flow is so high that the wafers move around too much and get sucked into the powerhead which is basically feeding the bacteria blooms and polluting the tank.

So I moved all the snails into a 10 gallon tank with a heater and air stone. I added the algae wafers and I will report back. No need to acclimate them since it was the same water I use and parameters matched exactly. They were moving as soon as they were placed in the tank.

I didn’t pay attention to how beautiful the Astrea shells were.

I will report back with how they are doing. I’m hoping they will start eating soon.

My hermits loved the algae wafers but my turbos, not so much. I started feeding them nori instead.. Astreas may be different though. Just a thought in case the astreas turn their noses up to the algae wafers.

You are correct. The astreas didn’t eat the wafers.

I am doing a water change and will use nori.

This is in your QT!!!?
Yes. Disgusting. From KP rocks.

I literally had it in between my bone cutters and I was pulling it away until the dumb cutters got stuck and made a snapping sound (I thought the bristle worm attacked me) and I jolted my hand.

It went back into the hole. Disgusting.

That's a big one... Better in the qt than in your new display.
