I bought a very good quality sump kit off ebay for a 20 long and it came with two baffles for a bubble trap. I have a vertex 130 and it lets a good amount of tiny micro bubbles out of it. i have tried even putting filter sponge between the baffles and i still get a tank full of bubbles. any ideas on what i am doing wrong and how i can fix it. thanks

How deep is the pump inlet? It may be that the pump suction itself is drawing some small bit of air.

Another possibility is that somewhere in your return tubing (at a union or clamp), some small bit of air is getting drawn into the water flow, ending up in your tank.

Could you post a picture of your sump with the pump running? Might help identify other possible causes.

its not the pump making the bubbles its the skimmer in the chamber before it that shoots bubbles into bubble trap that goes into fliter sponge and still makes it to return pump

Not sure if it will help but you can try getting some rubble rock and putting it in the partition between the skimmer and the return pump. That is how I have mine setup and I have never had a problem with microbubbles in my tank.

That might be the issue. They need to “break in”. I have seen others in here with the same issue and running it solved the issue. If you don’t want to run it in the tank maybe just get a bucket and let it run for a few days and try again.
