Hi Everyone,

Quick question regarding purchasing a microscope to determine if I have diatoms or dinos.

I would imagine there are a million threads like this so apologies in advance as I reviewed pages of microscope threads and still wasn't sure if I had found an appropriate microscope for my purposes.

Would the following amscope M150 microscope from Amazon work so that I could identify if I had diatons or dinos? The microscope is linked here and below. I don't need overly fancy features, I just want to be able see the sample and review photos online. I just want to ensure I don't buy something that doesn't work or is missing a MAJOR quality of life feature.

Amazon product

Thanks for any help,
Andrew

Link works, but I think I'd want one with a phone adapter, otherwise you're stuck trying to handhold your cell phone to take pics or videos, which are needed here if you want others opinions on what organism something is
Hey Bryan, makes sense and that's the exact type of quality of life feature I was hoping to not have an issue with so thank you for the feedback. How about the following microscope linked here which seems to have both a phone adapter and slide set included for $109.99 - OR there is this other AmScope 150 linked here for $146.99 that includes a camera and software..

Any preference between those two assuming either of them is sufficient? I'm comfortable with both price points, but I don't have much use for the microscope outside of occasional reef related items, so I would be happy with the $109 option if you trust it.

Thanks for your input

I'm maybe not the best person to ask since I had a scope and returned it.

But if I were shopping again I'd opt for the first choice here. I don't feel like a .3 megapixel camera is all that great.

Okay great, I'm going to go with the Compound Microscope with the phone adapter for $109.99.

I'm glad i double checked with the forum so that in theory it's slightly more turnkey for me to pull photos for review on the forum.
