I just purchased a waterbox 130 and currently have a Nuvo 20 with about 15 pounds of live rock. Is it possible to migrate the 20 gallon Nuvo into the 130 gallon Waterbox? Or is there no enough live rock to make the migrate possible. I don’t want to have to wait for a new cycle if i don’t have to.

Thanks

You will definitely go through at least a mini cycle. The bacterial load from the 20 will help seed the 130, but it is not nearly enough to prevent another cycle as about 85% of what’s going into the tank will be new. How long has the 20 been running, and what is the stocking?

Okay thank You. The tank has been running for 12 months. what percentage of live rock can I remove from the NUVO and put into the new tank while keeping it running until the Waterbox cycles? Or should I just do a complete isolated cycle of the new tank?

Nice looking tank . If you have the space, I would cycle the new tank then transfer everything over from the 20.

+1. It will be well worth it for sure. Just leave a bit of room for your existing LR for the new tank.

And welcome to R2R. Big forum with a down-home feel and the best Staff and members one could hope for.

Your present tank is awesome looking and it will be nice to see your new build thread.

Thank you everyone for the advice! The waterbox will go into a different room so I will cycle it. Also I will also start a new thread when the tank arrives.
