What will your ReefPi control? Let us know how you like it.

Hoping to Monitor my Temp and PH.

Control Lighting, Powerheads, and Heaters.

I've set it up already to Text my phone with an Alert when it detects an issue.

Following this great setup thread as a guide:

Well I finally got up the courage to drill my tank. Three holes drilled! Success!!! I can finally stop stressing about it and move on with my build.

Now that I got my Tank drilled I put together a layout of my plumbing. Going for a Bean Animal style overflow:

Got my RO/DI system setup in my Garage. Luckily I still had the connections from my last system still available. So it literally was just installing on the wall and connecting the tubes. I even still had the Brute trash can that I used a decade ago to store water.

Already completed flushing the unit and I am making water.

OK this RODI system turned out to be a piece of Crap. Started leaking from the DI stage and flooded part of my garage. I looked at the instruction manual online and it says to not leave the unit Unattended. Wow, now I see why. Tried to save some money and now will cost me more in the long run.

Naturally when I tried to install the overflow with the bulkheads I did what the instructions said not to do and over tightened them. Basically I destroyed them.

So I got a replacement and correctly installed the Fiji Cube overflow this time. Man I do love how little real estate it takes up inside the tank!

was hoping to get more plumbing done but my original plumbing plan wasn’t going to work so I had to order more connections.

Scored this Eshopps 10 gallon ATO tank used for $90 at my LFS. New this used to sell for $230.

Should look good with my blue plumbing.

Finally finished glueing together my plumbing. Was a little bit more challenging than I had planned. Turns out that when I did the dry fit I didn’t insert the pipes all the way into the fitting. The glue greased things up a bit and the pipes went all the way into the fitting leaving me short on all of my runs. Had to do some damage control to get things to fit properly. Not perfect but close enough to my plan.

Will hopefully get to do a Leak Test tomorrow.

Ran a quick leak test this morning and found a small drip on the return line. After some trouble shooting I quickly figured out that I forgot to glue that joint.

Waiting for glue to dry before trying the leak test again. On a positive note I’m super happy with how quiet the bean animal overflow and Syncra SDC pump combo is!
