The Lamarck’s Angelfish is a hardy and reef-compatible marine angelfish, and misbarred individuals are cared for the same as normal specimens. They do best in aquariums of 125 gallons or larger with plenty of open swimming space and stable water parameters. As a plankton-feeding species, they thrive on a varied diet of Nutramar pellets, Gamma frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other zooplankton-based foods, ideally fed multiple times daily. Unlike many angelfish, Lamarck’s angels are generally reef safe, rarely bothering corals, and they tend to be peaceful toward most tankmates, though males may show mild territorial behavior toward other Genicanthus. Provide good water movement and excellent filtration, as they are active swimmers that appreciate clean, oxygen-rich water. With proper care, they can live 10+ years and become a graceful centerpiece fish in larger reef aquariums.
