So I added all of my fish to my 180 last Friday night and everything was going smoothly until this past Tuesday night when my black Occelaris clown was acting a little weird and she was on the opposite end of the tank to where my orange Occelaris was and they are always together. So Wednesday(yesterday) morning my girlfriend texts me that she can't find Bonnie(my clowns where Bonnie and Clyde) so I told her that she probably just couldn't see her bc she goes behind the return nozzle sometimes...well when I got home last night I looked everywhere I could think of(drains, wet/dry filter, behind the tank, rock work) and couldn't find any trace of her. Tanks mates are 4-5in Desjardini Sailfin tang, 4in Niger trigger, Occelaris Clown, 1in Emerald crab and 5 scarlet hermits. Any ideas on what might/could have happened. My LFS thinks the trigger but from what I've read and see is that Niger triggers will be ok in community tanks or is that an up in the air topic that doesn't have a 100% answer? There was also no signs of sickness or disease.

Sorry for the long post

My guess would be the crabs. If they're in a new tank without much to eat they're going to be hungry. If the fish was stressed and lethargic or actually died overnight and sank the cuc would have gone to town. This happened with a small yellow tang I had. It was swimming around one day and I found a small part of its carcass the next day in a cave.

I was leaning towards crabs over the trigger bc the trigger is still small and doesn't have teeth showing yet.

Is your tank open top? If so, there is a chance it jumped. If it did and you can't find it, do you have any dogs or cats? How long were the clowns together?

The clowns have been together for about 7-8 months and the top is open in certain spots...we do have dogs but the fish went missing over night and the dogs sleep I. The bedroom so they couldn't have eaten her off of the floor. Most of the openness of the top is in the back of the tank anyways
