I have a Melanurus Wrasse that I have not seen it atleast 3-4 days now. Should I sift through the sand to see if he is hiding out or just let him be and hope he will reappear? He looked great the last time I seen him. He was eating, nobody was messing with him, looked very healthy.

Depending on the age of the tank, if he expired you won't find him, your CUC in the sand would have taken care of that for you. I'd just leave it alone for a bit and see if he re-appears.

It's a thing worthy of the Twilight Zone how things can disappear in a saltwater tank.

My mel wrasse will sometimes disappear for a few days. Have you changed your photo period or gone lights out recently? The first time I went lights out in this tank (to combat cyano), I didn't see the mel wrasse for more than a week after the lights came back on. :squigglemouth:

No change in the lighting schedule. I did just add clam to the tank but don't think that should of upset him.

Do NOT sift through the sand; if he's hiding this will only stress him more.

How long has he been in the tank? What other tank mates?
