O.k so this is my latest build, I had 2 young children then had another come along just as I was setting this up. Anyway it was just too much so the tank sat cycling for 18 months with just a few zoas, a pair of clowns and 2 chromis from a previous tank. I've had many tanks over the past 30 years, all started with live rock and ive always had a sandbed. Anyway I chose for this one to be all dry rock and bare bottom (I thought I'd challenge myself) so anyway even though I started the tank 2 years ago I didn't start stocking it until November 2023. So I'm about 4 months into stocking. So it's still very much a building site atm.
Equipment wise it's pretty much fully automated, there is very little maintenance. Unless required by an I.C.P I don't perform water changes as there is no need to, I don't run a skimmer or any mechanical filtration, except a bit of floss in a filter cup. I run a refugium and manage NO3 with photoperiod length. For PO4 I sometimes use a bit of lanthanum or GFO. I might do a little carbon dosing in the future we'll see. I've nicknamed it the pig because it was a pig to get stable!
