Hello,
i have a very prolific clownfish pair that lay eggs every 2 - 2 and a half weeks.
Last month i decided to give it a shot and try to raise a clutch.
Everything was going ok for being the first time i try this (managed to keep alive a bit more half of the fry i scooped after 10 days) around 20 were alive, until i made a mistake.
Had a very porous sponge sinked in the small aquarium where the fry were, with the aireation rock on top to hold it down (it was in my sump and it was seeded to i used it until a proper one seeded) That sponge got loose overnight 15 of the 20 fishes i had decided to get entangled on it and died. This happened whne they were 15 days old... So i was left with only 5 clownfish of the first clutch.
The next day another clutch was due to hatch and since i had everything running (the rotifers culture, brine shrimp, etc) i decided to collect them and try with this second batch too..
Today the first batch is 28 days old and the second one is 13 days old.. i did better on this second batch and i have been able to keep almost 30 alive.
i was keeping the fry for the first 10 days on a 1.3 gallon plastic container that i keep inside my sump, so i didn´t have to worry about the temperature. Just had aeriation and focus on the feeding.
The second clutch have overgrown that container, i am doing 20% daily water changes, but i need to move them soon... and i was wondering if i could transfer them to the same small aquarium where the 5 survivors of the first clutch are right now (its a 7 gallon tank). Its a 15 day difference between clutches, and i am seeing a lot of agression between those 5 survivors of the first clutch... Could the introduction of this second clutch make things better? or the big ones will kill them? Reading online i have found opinions on both sides so i would like to know real life experiences from people here that have been in a similar situation...
