Hi,

can I use water from a manifold (tank water) to mix and dose kalkwasser and it’s stirer? I don’t like the thought of dosing via RO top off because it means the kalkwasser doses at different rates based on external temp and humidity.

have I got something incorrect here? Happy to be corrected (don’t tell my wife )

regards Duzzy

So I’d be adding magnesium instead of calcium is that correct?
To put it simply you will mess up your tank chemistry.

The high pH of kalk mixing with saltwater will precipitate out of the water what you are trying to maintain, it won't work. It only works with freshwater.

You’d be creating a mess of mud. It’s not useful in any way, and will deplete magnesium.

A better suggestion is to use RODI like you would for ATO, but just dose a preset amount that is below your daily evaporation limit. Then let a regular ATO make up the rest.
This is the way I roll. I have a 10 gal kalk container and dose just under the evaporation rate. There is a small ATO to make up the difference.

That’s a great idea so effectively a second ato. Thankyou
