Hey all. First post, and in process of setting up first reef aquarium. 75 gallon with above mentioned overflow. Going beananimal and a little confused on how to plumb this thing.

Any concerns with this? My only concern is water coming in left bulkhead and running down secondary drain rather than it naturally capturing whats left of full siphon primary drain? Any other suggestions let me know. It's tight in there! I really dont want to cut bulkhead but if I did could use the far left as emergency and use middle drain as the secondary.

Thanks
Tyler

Does look really tight. I agree that you’ll probably get some water down the secondary drain due to placement of the bulkhead.

In a bean animal I believe the secondary is generally a durso drain, but it doesn’t look like you have the space for that and the straight pipe will probably be ok.

ive got the same overflow, i cut the bulkhead it was super easy, can send a pic if you want

You’ll have to cut the bulkhead. It’s in the instructions. Or if you’re totally against it you can get a spacer from MM. Believe it’s a spacer and an extra set of bulkhead gaskets. My tanks a rimmed tank so I had to use the spacer but with it I didn’t have to cut the bulkheads. Or maybe I had to trim it slightly? It’s been awhile. You’ll want the secondary drain height to be as high as the top of the bulkhead otherwise you’ll have excessive noise/gurgling.

Just went and looked. I did end up cutting one bulkhead. I cut pretty much just the tip with no threads off. The emergency pretty much touches the bulkhead so seems I trimmed just the minimum.

Thanks again everyone. Got it done tonight. Plenty of room with that bulkhead cut down.
