Mollies in a saltwater tank

Any Molly can go into saltwater?

Probably not any. Some are more hardy than others. Dalmatians and black Molly I have 100% success with.

I heard they are good algae eaters as well. any know if there is any truth to this?

Yes I've heard the same they are picking at rocks and power head so I guess it's true

Not really some are better for salt look it up I forgot the names the blk ones do well

I just threw a mostly black dalmatian molly in without acclimation tonight. Tomorrow I'm going to acclimate my silver lyre tail and see if there is a difference between the two. Thanks for posting this thread, I totally forgot that mollies can go saltwater!

The black dalmatian has disappeared so I assume he's a goner. The silver lyre tail is doing well though! Seems to only come out in the evenings and mornings.

@AdamD76 I believe he threw them right into the sump with no issues.

Never assume. He might show up. Mine hides and I can't find him and then as soon as I think he is gone he shows back up.

Update baby fry doing well in the refugium

Went out and got myself a few mollys (x3) after reading this thread, they settled in very quickly after acclimation, brilliant little chaps at eating up the algae.
