First off Merry Christmas to everyone and I hope the new year treats you well!

I have a monti digitata in my tank and I think it’s doing well! I haven’t killed it yet. I’ve started to notice a little brown color on the tips of its branches. It’s there anything I can do to prevent it or save it if that’s a bad sign?

Not sure if the picture helps, but I appreciate any suggestions!

Thank you

I'm curious to know what would cause brown tips as well as I'm facing a similar problem.

The best answers I could find included high nitrates or unstable alk. The advice I was given was to clip off the parts that are brown and have algae.

Good luck, following as I'm curious.

Probably elevated nutrients most likely phosphate. Digi's seem prone to taking in more than they can compensate for. You can clip the tips and treat with an iodine dip. Just make sure to place the frag in a lower par area while it heals and/or superglue the cuts.
