I was looking to get a plating montipora to grow on my back wall, how do I go about doing this, will normal glue hold it well? Would water changes bother the coral if it's out of water.

No, glue does not reliably hold on glass. You can use magnetic frag plugs from amazon. No, being exposed during water changes will not hurt it. If it's for more than several minutes, just give it a splash.
It will hold, and if by chance it doesnt, you can order some cheap neodymium magnets and use those on the outside to increase strength. You can see i have 4 magnetic frag mounts on my back glass. They dont move.Would the magnetic frag plug continue to hold the coral as it grows or would it get too heavy?
