I got a new 25 watt uv sterilizer and I’m wondering what’s a cheap easy way to mount it over my sump

Ya im thinking about buying one and the biggest holdup is trying to figure out where I'd mount it. I might end up mounting it to the wall. I could probably fit it somewhere over the sump but it would just get intolerably crowded in there.

I have mine laying on the ground next to my sump. Easy to get at and remove means I'm more likely to do routine maintenance on it.

Drilled holes in both clamps used wood screws to attach clamps to the board

I have 4 of them and they are just sitting in a pile next to the sump. Not sure why you would want it mounted over the sump to impede access

Do the water outlets need to be facing up?

I thought so. Or at least it’s preferable maybe?

I know horizontal is “the way” but my rational thinking for the life of me can’t figure out why vertical would be bad...... Flow in at the bottom, out through the top. It ensures long dwell-time, and ensures the entire sleeve is submerged at all times.

Why would vertical not be the way to go? I watched a local shop set up a new one right out of the box on their frag tank, because they had some algae, and he set it behind the tank vertically

Read the manual on any uv you buy. It'll tell you EXACTLY how to mount it properly.
