I have some sps in the path of my mp40 - about 18 inches away. I'd have to redo the entire rock work to move them - is this distance ok? Running at 75 percent power. Thanks

Hard to tell, you will need to watch your sps. Some can handle the heavy flow, others don't like it.

Either why not turn down the floe or move the head to some where else in the tank?

Thanks - the way the rocks are set up there's not a lot of options - I'll probably need to turn down I guess - wanted to make sure I had enough overall flow

Vortech has a rather wide flow and you might get away with things as is. Run the pump and place your had near the corals and wait till the vortech cycle you chose has run to better assess the flow hitting on your corals.mmaube place corals that. Like flow in that area like thicker accros in general, efflos as well...

Thanks all - I guess I need to buy the reef link as well. I switched to tidal from reef Crest and that seems to be providing less direct focused flow for some reason

Set to maximum, the MP40s reach is only 2 to 3 feet and it's pretty weak by the time it gets to that 3rd foot. It's hard to imagine your coral being bothered at 18 inches distance.

In fact, you should use your hand to see for yourself. Put your hand right by the coral, between the coral and the pump, and feel the flow - you should be able to tell that it's soft and gentle (or not).
