I got the wave engine running this past week and still trying to figure out the flow that I prefer but it’s pretty awesome having different modes to easily switch to vs programming one up on two different gyre controllers!

Today I did a water change and just because, here are a few pics

I am currently using sine wave. I have a qyre on each end and two on the back wall. Originally I had my maxpect controllers on random mode using forward and reverse. Now with the wave engine, I’m using sine wave, but I notice one gyre flashes red during the cycle for a moment now and then. Other programs will cause the same issue on different gyres depending on speeds and I can’t quite figure it out. I’m sure it’s probably a setting I have but idk?

Nice starfish! Tile?
I bought it as a fromia at a lfs but it’s definitely unique!

I have had a few issues like that when the gyres needed cleaning, seems more sensitive than the Maxspect controller.

New tank mate for the 180 arrived today :) My lfs ordered me a ORA blue green mandarin. He’s tiny as advertised but I’ve wanted one since before I had a tank.

Well I did a thing today…. Got my dream fish… a blonde nasso! Also picked up a yellow belly blue hippo and a diamond goby.

My LFS promised me he’d take the nasso back as soon as I ever feel it’s too big for my tank. He has had the nasso for probably two months. They are in qt now.
The hippo is hiding.

Just did coral snow for the first time. It’s kinda a freaky feeling at first. The foxface is a little freaked out but everything else is calm and corals are open.

Coral snow finally cleared up after a couple of hours. I went to bed as it was getting better but this morning with lights off, the tank is looking good. We will see if anything looks different in an hour or two as the lights ramp up.

Well I got home today and the nasso was dead in qt. So bummed. The hippo and diamond goby are acting normal. The nasso showed no signs of anything so not sure what happened. That’s the first fish I’ve lost in qt but I do HTTM so I’m know it’s not a medication outside of general cure at this point.

Dang, condolences. Always sucks to loose a fish, even more so when it's one you've been wanting for a while! No behavior changes or signs of illness?

Good that the hippo seems to be doing well.

Yep it sucks for sure. The nasso looked great and acted normal. I left for work and 10 hrs later found it dead. I’ll try another.. but I hear nassos have not been near as hardy for the last year or two.

Well I decided to try one more time with a blonde nasso but this time I’m letting Jeff at Fish Hotel do a full qt on it. Assuming all works out, I should see it in about a month roughly.

The yellow belly blue hippo has entered the dt into an acclimation box. Not sure how long I’ll keep it in there but it is starting to get much better about not shying away when I approach.
(The spots on the fish are air bubbles and such in or on the acclimation box.)

I’ve been dealing with an increasing amount of cyano lately. Yesterday I cleaned all the gyres and that helped with flow considerably. I also dosed chemiclean. I’ve used it before a couple years ago…. It’s amazing how well it works. I’ll do a large water change Tuesday or Wednesday.
Yesterday of dosing and today.
