How can I eliminate mushrooms to place other type of corals?

Can you remove the rock? If not your best bet IMO is to take a razor underwater and razor blade as much as you can. Then cover the rest, even where it looks like there is none, with epoxy.

You can cut them back with bone cutters and then cover what is left with epoxy or really thick kalk paste with the pumps off. Any way that you go about it will be a lot of work.
